Did you enjoy The Greengage Summer? I must go and google that one.
Best, Shauna.xLinnet In Orielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16283284636875494288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520350618111497099.post-7133847486923752012014-07-12T11:41:43.988-07:002014-07-12T11:41:43.988-07:00I'm ashamed to say I've never read 'Ci...I'm ashamed to say I've never read 'Cider with Rosie' and, although I did think about it the other month for my book club choice, I plumped for 'The Greengage Summer'. And my favourite teacher was also an English teacher, as I was always at my happiest reading and writing - my talents, as such, have widened to include knitting and sewing as well as the reading and writing but I stick to what I know!
My two have finished school for the summer and waiting for exam results, so I don't know the actual end of term dates, fot the furst time in years! Enjoy your weeks off and hopefully you'll even get some sun xLou - the knit nurse.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13355713213879898794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520350618111497099.post-50848689305342497902014-07-11T02:03:31.948-07:002014-07-11T02:03:31.948-07:00Oh Mell61, poor Dickens...but I have to admit that...Oh Mell61, poor Dickens...but I have to admit that I have never read Hard Times! Ms O'R sounds like a fantastic teacher, in my experience inspiring maths teachers were very rare. Thanks for your comment.
Shauna.xLinnet In Orielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16283284636875494288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2520350618111497099.post-50433666696238621542014-07-09T10:10:23.980-07:002014-07-09T10:10:23.980-07:00I enjoyed reading Cider with Rosie, a recent book ...I enjoyed reading Cider with Rosie, a recent book club choice, the language was like a patchwork of words, not quite matching but pleasing to the eye.
The only inspiring teacher I had was a wonderful maths teacher Ms O'R, a large number of my fellow pupils ended up doing maths based degrees having had her inspire them.
Nationwide, I stole my sister's required reading Pride and Prejudice, still one of my best loved books, whereas my required reading of Hard Times was well named and consigned to the charity shop ASAP after exams! A miserable pontificating pile of Sickens (bless you autocorrect, you are right to change Dickens to Sickens)mell61https://www.blogger.com/profile/12355807806626858927noreply@blogger.com
